Days Out // Goodwood Revival: Stepping back in time

Last weekend we finally got to go to Goodwood Revival for a day out. Goodwood is more than a day out it’s a step back in time. We decided to get tickets for my dad’s birthday as he loves his cars and had heard good things. I hadn’t known what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. One tip is definitely dress up! If you don’t you’ll definitely regret it and will be part of a small minority. It’s the first time I’ve been to such a large event where everyone participates in dressing up so it seems as if you are well and truly in the 40s or 50s.
We set off bright and early from London at 6 to beat the traffic and were parked up by 7:30am.
The whole event was laid out well and separated between ‘over the road’ with market stalls and an outside cinema.

We kicked off the day with a bacon roll and tea and then started wondering around.

We spent the day between looking around the stalls, gazing at the amazing classic cars and then watching the races on the track.

Love this colour! Duck egg blue for life 💙
Vintage everywhere…
Weird and wonderful stalls

We met up with a friend of the family dressed all in tweed who was with a group of friends. They’d done Goodwood before so had come prepared… Not only did they have a huge drinks cooler, they’d brought a mini table to lay out all their food. When we next come we’re definitely taking this tip and bringing a blanket, maybe a couple deck chairs and a picnic/ booze! Some people had even brought Fortnum and Mason hampers – my kinda picnic!

At lunch we had already done over 10,000 steps so decided to go and check out the outdoor cinema, after we’d had some food. (We shared a pizza which was delish.) We booked into the Grease showing and got front row seats – I should say deck chairs! It was set up like a drive in and had a number of cars around which you could sit in if you pleased. There was complimentary popcorn and I enjoyed a tasty pimms – probably my last of the year now!

The rest of the day was then spent watching races and eating ice-cream – I had honeycomb, my dad had vanilla and the hubby had rum and raisin. YUM!

I’d love to spend a long weekend here and maybe one year we might even camp over with a bunch of friends. The vibe is great, the food is tasty and the cars, amazing!

There was also a bunch of old planes in Spitfire Field which were amazing to look at up close.

There was also a Veuve Clicquot champagne bar which was set up with a band and a lovely little gin bar 🍹

My absolute favourite!

I’m intrigued to try The Festival of Speed which is set near the house and on a different track. Maybe next year!

Has anyone else been to Goodwood Revival or a classic car festival?

Until next time,

Cathers x
