Friday Feelings and Favourites – June

Happy Friday! I love Fridays because it means Tim will be around to help on Saturday and Sunday and we try to do things at the weekends to make it different to the week. We’ve got Tim’s parents around tomorrow and my Dad over for Father’s Day on Sunday. What are you up to?

Here’s a few bits I’ve been loving this week and thinking about:

The British Summer:
Today the heat wave has gone and the rain has come in 🙁 That was short lived! I mean don’t get me wrong having a baby in the heat is hard work but I loooove the sun and heat in summer so am already missing it! Just being able to put Rory in a long sleeve vest and leggings is much easier than faffing about with changing him out of a long sleeve vest mid-morning and putting him in a romper then worrying if he’ll get cold in the shops!

Summer Flowers:
My favourite flowers have to be peonies so I loooove being able to grab a bunch this time of year. Tim got me this gorgeous bunch of flowers which had peonies in it <3 They were a lovely surprise from Bloom & Wild as a you’re doing a great job mummy! So cute! I was having a hard time with breastfeeding so that was a lovely pick me up 🙂

Vinted:
This past week I’ve been loving Vinted. It’s an online community for pre-loved items. It’s like eBay but I find so much easier! You list items for free, sell it, ship it and get paid. It then works the other way – download the app, find what you want, buy it and get it. As a buyer, you can choose to pay a buyer-protection fee. As a seller you can ‘bump’ your item so it gets seen by more people or have your ‘wardrobe’, what you’re selling, highlighted – both cost some £ but it’s a cool concept.

I’ve listed some stuff I was meaning to eBay but thought I’d try Vinted after an NCT friend mentioned it and I’m hooked! Here’s my ‘wardrobe’. I’ve finally listed a bunch of clothes that haven’t fit me for a while and I’ve already made some sales! There’s no point keeping things that haven’t fit me in a while (pre baby) and trying to squeeze into them and not being able to get into them can be depressing. So I’m finally clearing out stuff and getting rid of that feeling. Its 100% better to have clothes that fit you well and make you feel good wearing them.

Here’s my link to sign up!

I’ve brought myself a Baby Bjorn active carrier for £20 on Vinted so that next month when Rory is 4 months old we can set him up looking outwards on walks. We only realised last week that the ErgoBaby Adapt carrier we have is only inwards facing and can be used on your back, but can’t be used outward facing. Such a fail! We got it because we thought it did every positions (head in hands!)… oops… Anyway! I can’t wait for it to arrive!

FiiT:
I’ve also been doing the FiiT postnatal plan. The FiiT mum plan is to help new mums recover and to rebuild their strength and energy. Its 24 weeks, 4 stages and 30 hours of me time. I’m on week 4 of the first stage and am enjoying it. It is some time for me and is carefully and gently reintroducing me to exercise and building up those muscles I lost during pregnancy. I’ve used FiiT in the past and loved it, but heard of the postnatal plan through a girl I used to go to school with – Charlie Barker of Bumps and Burpees who helped to create the plan. Give her a follow on insta at Charlie Launder and Bumps and Burpees!

So far this stage is introducing gentle movement and helping to regain strength in your pelvic floor through yoga and pilates. It’s crazy some of the exercises I used to find a walk in the park that are now tricky – the first time I did a glute bridge OMG I couldn’t hold it for that long! I can’t wait to get back into doing more intense exercise and running but I know I’ll get there eventually.

I’ve also discovered that you can use your smart watch with FiiT. When I’d previously used FiiT I didn’t have my FitBit so used the body band, but being able to use my FitBit is so handy! It’s such a clever concept!

Podcast:
Lockdown Parenting Hell. I am loving this podcast! An NCT mum mentioned that she’d been listening to it during late night feeds so I downloaded it and have been listening to it a lot. It’s a nice change to watching TV or scrolling Instagram and cracks me up! Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe are hilarious so if you’re looking for something light hearted to listen to hit it up!

Baby Classes:
This week I had 2 baby classes with Rory. Rhythm Time on Monday and then swimming on Wednesday. I was so nervous about it but Rory did so well! I’m going to do a round-up of things I found helpful to do running up to the lesson and while there. I looked up a few bits before I got there and it definitely helped. He looked super cute in this Splash About Baby Wrap Wetsuit <3

Have a great weekend!

Until next time,
Cathers xx
