So here we are… nearly at the end of our first week of the UK ‘lockdown’. I’ve found that it helps to look forward to what we can do once this is all over. These are definitely uncertain and scary times but we’ve got to keep positive! I’m definitely finding that I’ve been easily distracted for the past couple weeks and getting stressed quite easily. I love having something to look forward to and with COVID-19 all plans are on hold… we’d been hoping to go to the South of France for a road trip in May but that won’t be happening. So I’ve been thinking about what I can look forward to… I’m definitely not the only one who’s found their emotions all over the place but I’ve found that the past few days have been much better and I’ve been able to focus – definitely helps when I’ve got so much to get through at work atm! I’ve found that I’m appreciating the little things more – I literally can’t wait to go on a food shop and not have to worry about avoiding others, celebrating a birthday with everyone together or just meeting up with a friend for coffee – there’s so many little things which will have so much more value once this all over…
So here’s my top 10 things I’m looking forward to when this is all over:
Going on holiday
I’m going to write out a bucket list of all the places I want to visit. I’m definitely imagining myself in a hot country on a beach – hello South of France, California or St Petes in Florida – walking along the shore with my toes in the sea. Dreamy!
Going out for a tasty meal
As you know Tim and I love our food and visiting new food places. We’re currently booked in at Le Manoir at the beginning of June so hoping that we can still go or at least we’ll go as soon as this is all over. We went last year and had the most amazing meal (see here for post) and can’t wait to go back and have another raspberry soufflé (YUM!)
We’ve also said we’ll go to Purnell’s again with some friends once we can – something to look forward too! They love treating themselves to tasty meals out too so we’re counting down…
Seeing friends and family again
Thank goodness for phones and social media so that we can keep in touch with everyone. Although nothing beats a hug and enjoying a glass of wine or G&T together. I downloaded Houseparty the other day which is great – love being able to catch up with people and play a funny game too which makes us all laugh.
Dinner Parties
Having friends round for a dinner party. Hello cheese and wine night!
Having a massage
Such a luxury! I have such a clicky back and so many knots. I’m going to try and stretch them out while in lockdown but there’s nothing better than the feeling of a deep tissue massage the day after.
Going to the theatre/ concerts:
We have a few things booked in the next few months coming up which we’ve been really looking forward to. McFly, Mamma Mia and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. McFly has now been pushed back to November so at least that is still happening so hoping the same happens with the others. I loooove Harry Potter so can’t wait to see the play! (Have you seen it yet? What did you think?)
A Summer of Sport
Wimbledon! My fav summer sport to follow. We were determined this was the year we were going and we got tickets in the ballot to the men’s semi finals! I hope to God it’s still on and we get to go. What’s better than a sunny British summer day drinking Pimms, eating strawberries and cream and watching tennis?
Having a picnic in the English countryside
We got a wicker picnic basket as a wedding present a few years ago so can’t wait to put this is to good use – pack up some tasty picnic bits (sandwiches, sausage rolls, pork pies and tasty sweet treats!) Perfect enjoyed with friends.
Going to a class
I love a gym class and also can’t wait to restart ballet once this is all over – such a good workout!
I also love a painting class. I tried Art Nite back in Jan with a friend and it was so much fun. I’m definitely going to book back in when this is all over. Grabbing a drink with friends and following along with a class painting something.
Getting back to the office
Don’t get me wrong, I love working from home but I miss going into the city for work and catching up with everyone including old work friends before work for a coffee or at lunch for a tasty bite to eat and even a cheeky cocktail!
So that’s my top 10 things I’m looking forward to! What are you most looking forward to? Let me know in the comments!
Until next time,
Cathers xx
